Spiritual Care

Spiritual Path

Hospice of the Pines offers spiritual care for all of its patients and their families.  Spiritual care relates to the issues of meaning and significance in our lives.  It may or may not involve one’s religious beliefs and practices.

As we come to the end of our lives, it may be a time when one wants to reflect and consider important issues such as:
1. The meaning of life
2. Beliefs related to the afterlife
3. Reconciling life choices
4. Exploring the contributions and achievements of one’s life
5. Reconciling significant relationships
6. Discovering a sense of purpose at this stage in life
7. Dealing with one’s own grief and loss
8. Becoming totally dependent on others

Often the role of the spiritual counselor is to simply listen and to allow the patient or family member to express their thoughts, emotions and needs. prayer

In addition to providing counsel and support, Hospice of the Pines spiritual counselors can provide spiritual services or rituals such as:
1. Prayer and meditation
2. Bible reading or devotional reading
3. Communion
4. Last rites or prayer
5. Officiate memorial and funeral services

Patients and family members can also request Hospice of the Pines spiritual counselors to contact local churches or religious leaders from different faiths and request specific religious rituals to be performed.

The goal of Hospice of the Pines is to provide holistic, respectful,  and meaningful spiritual care for patients and family members  during this challenging time of life.

I have served as a hospice chaplain in hospices within two Arizona communities. I am interested in a possible opening as a chaplain/spiritual counselor with your hospice.
